ABOUT RYAN
RYAN EDWARDS - STRENGTH & POWERLIFTING COACH
I’ve spent most of my life coaching in one form or another, long before I ever set foot on a powerlifting platform. I started coaching as a teenager in martial arts, and even then, I was fascinated by what made people move well, learn fast, and perform under pressure. That early experience shaped how I work today: understanding the person first, then building everything else around them.
Over the past eight years, I’ve dedicated my career to coaching lifters of all levels, from complete beginners learning how to train properly to competitive athletes refining the smallest details of their performance. My work now spans RE Coaching, Gloucestershire Powerlifting, and my role as a coach within Dedicated by Design (DBD), where I contribute to a team that shares the same athlete-first, evidence-led approach to coaching.
Across all of it, the aim is the same: to build lifters who truly understand their training. I don’t want people to just follow a programme, I want them to know why they’re doing what they’re doing, how to adjust when life gets busy, and how to train in a way that lasts.
My coaching process combines structure, communication, and precision. Every block, session, and adjustment has intent behind it. That means looking beyond the numbers, understanding fatigue, psychology, readiness, and long-term development. Strength is more than a total; it’s the ability to keep showing up, improving, and learning about yourself through the process.
Through RE Coaching and Gloucestershire Powerlifting, I’ve built a space where lifters can do exactly that. It’s not about who’s strongest in the room, it’s about creating an environment where everyone can progress, learn, and enjoy training again.
Coaching, for me, has always been about more than lifting. It’s about guiding people to realise what they’re capable of, and giving them the structure, education, and accountability to get there.
This is RE Coaching - built from years of experience, driven by curiosity, and grounded in a genuine passion for helping lifters perform at their best, both on and off the platform.
